George L. Trevino Sr.
5th Dan Black Belt
Mr. Trevino was born May 22, 1953 in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. His formative years were spent growing up in Dallas having moved here in 1964.
George started his training in Chinese Kenpo at age 22. He trained for 2 years and was forced to quit after his dojo closed. Never losing his desire to train in the martial arts he returned to the dojo at age 36 under Grand Master William Shelton and started his training in Tae Kwon Do. Though he encountered several setbacks due to health issues he never gave up. He continued his training in Tae Kwon Do and felt something was missing. At the suggestion of Mr. David Garcia he complemented his training with Akido. On May 21, 1993 George achieved his goal of 1st Dan in Tae Kwon Do. And as he puts it his first true step in understanding the Martial Arts.
He continues his training to this day under Grand Master William Shelton, Master Kristi Shawky and has had the honor of being one of her instructors for many, many years. He gives thanks to Mr. Shelton, Mrs. Shawky, and Mr. Garcia for instilling his love of the Martial Arts and his undying spirit. For without them he would not have reached his goals.
To all my students past, present, and future, thank you. Never say I can’t, I’m proof that you can!!!
